On the call today, I realized that I should have mentioned the following
virtual workshop that was organized by the WAI RDIG:

Teleconference on Making Visualizations of Complex Information
Accessible for People with Disabilities
http://www.w3.org/WAI/RD/2004/06/28-agenda.html

While this is valuable, on revisiting the record I realize that my
pieces at
http://www.w3.org/WAI/RD/2003/12/Visualization/submittal.html
http://www.w3.org/WAI/RD/2004/06/gilman.html

.. are more along the lines of "a few inflammatory comments" than a
tutorial exposition one could use in self-study.

So let me also mention the piece I did on

Universal Design Considerations for the Grid
http://trace.wisc.edu/docs/ud4grid

with particular emphasis on

.. the arm's length relationships between User Interaction,
Application Logic, and the IT techbase:
http://trace.wisc.edu/docs/ud4grid/#_Toc495220373

.. and the sales pitch for more and better-integrated metadata, if
you want to call it that:
