I mean syntax violation as defined in the standard: https://url.spec.whatwg.org/#syntax-violation

I do not follow how "violation" is incorrect meaning here. Three slashes is violating the allowed syntax. The consequence of the violation (failure vs. "fixup" during parsing) is not relevant to whether it is a violation or not.
