Could you clarify whether they map to Backspace/Delete keys, or you are talking about logical operations similar to what execCommand provides?

I think what@yosinch is saying is that browsers often have to do more intelligent things for Backspace to match to platforms behavior.

If what you're talking about is commands that deletes a grapheme, but a command that does what Backspace does, that may change the discussion.
