I think this out of scope for XMLHttpRequest. (In fact, earlier versions  
of the XMLHttpRequest suggested that implementations, if pipelining is  
supported, should use pipelined connections.) Pipelining is something that  
all network traffic can benefit from, not just XMLHttpRequest.
