CONSORTIUM LAUNCHES SUIT TO NULLIFY JPEG PATENT

A consortium of nearly two-dozen companies, including IBM,
HP, and Apple have launched a suit to nullify the patent on
JPEG image compression. The litigants state that Forgent's
Compression Labs and General Instruments were wrongly
attempting to enforce their patent.
