Using github for the IG

Hi all,

Sorry for the relative silence over the past few weeks since the
official announcement of the group; I have been working with the chairs
on the various logistical aspects to get the group started, and you will
hear a lot more from us this week (and I'm afraid the following weeks as
well).

Part of making this group useful will involve getting the right
supporting infrastructure; the chairs and I think that using github
services will help in more than one context (although we also recognize
that not everyone will be able or comfortable using it), so I have gone
ahead and created an organization account for the IG:
https://github.com/mobIG/ (the name of the account is likely to change —
I'll let the group know if and when that happens)

We will create repositories there for the various projects (incl
documents) that the IG will develop and that the IG will feel
comfortable managing through github; in particular, for these, we will
expect contributions to be made as much as possible through pull
requests (but again, not require it).

As a first repository there, I have created a repository for our group
web site; the underlying content is maintained as a markdown file
combined with an HTML template as can be seen at:
https://github.com/mobIG/mobIG-website/

Updates to the master branch of that repository get automatically
mirrored on the W3C web site: http://www.w3.org/Mobile/IG/

I expect the chairs and I will at least initially be doing most of the
maintenance for that page, but should you feel inspired, feel free to
either make suggestions, raise issues or send pull requests :)
