Web Intents and Scholarly and Scientific Research and Communication

Web Intents,

Greetings. I would like to broach web intents for digital learning, digital textbooks, and scholarly and scientific research and communication scenarios, interoperability between web browsers and citation managers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_reference_management_software).

Storing and accessing database or tabular data could have new verbs or utilize extensible parameters with existing verbs. Collecting and utilizing citations resembles database storage and users expect interoperability with document authoring software, including web-based. Summarily, the scholarly and scientific processes of collecting and citing research materials are either their own verbs or varieties of saving (http://webintents.org/save) and selecting (http://webintents.org/pick) objects from and to pages.

For example,

var activity = new Intent({"action":"http://www.webintents.org/save", "type": "application/x-bibtex", "data": ...});

Kind regards,

Adam Sobieski
