Media Web Symposium, 21-22 May

Dear all,

The annual Fraunhofer FOKUS Media Web Symposium is happening in Berlin on 21-22 May [1]. The detailed programme is here [2].

As part of this, I will be hosting a session on Tuesday 21st, "W3C Media & Entertainment and DASH-IF: Joint Topics of Interest", looking at new media related web APIs that are currently in incubation, including Media Source Extensions updates, Media Capabilities, Autoplay Policy Detection, and DataCue API (Media Timed Events Task Force). This is open to all MWS attendees.

You can register to attend MWS here [3].

In addition, Fraunhofer FOKUS are hosting a meeting of the Second Screen Community Group on 23-24 May. The group is making good progress on the Open Screen Protocol, a secure protocol that supports the Presentation and Remote Playback APIs [4, 5], including device discovery, control messaging, and streaming of content between devices. You can find more details, including registration, here [6].

I hope to see you there!

Kind regards,

Chris
