New Audio Description Community Group

Dear Media and Entertainment IG member,

After a great response to my proposal to set up an Audio Description Community Group, it now exists: https://www.w3.org/community/audio-description/

Mission: To create an open standard file format to support audio description all the way from scripting to mixing.

Scope: To agree requirements and propose a workable open standard file format for audio description, probably a profile of TTML2, with the intention of moving to the Rec track within a Working Group.

Deliverables:

  *   Requirements document
  *   Draft specification document
  *   Explainer

If this is of interest to you please do join up. I'm looking for an Editor to work on the deliverables especially the requirements and specification documents. The requirements are already drafted at https://github.com/w3c/ttml2/wiki/Audio-Description-Requirements

Kind regards,

Nigel
