Test Samples Development Task Force (TSD TF)

Hi,

Work Statement: <http://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/2006/tests/tests-tf>

During last weeks' ERT teleconference we talked briefly about this Task Force but there was too little time to come to a resolution. For all who missed the call, here some background:

The goals of the TF are two-fold, first is to review the test procedures in the "Techniques for WCAG 2.0" document, and the second is to develop sample content (aka "test files" etc) for these test procedures. While the TF has crucial role in assessing the clarity, effectiveness, and efficiency of these test procedures (especially from the view of evaluation tool developers), it does not have ownership of the WCAG 2.0 documents. However, we do expect that the feedback and suggestions made by this Task Force will be incorporated into these documents by the WCAG WG.

This TF is therefore a review instance to already existing WCAG 2.0 test procedures. The review of the test procedures is done by trying to develop sample content for them. In doing so, ambiguity or difficulty in implementation will emerge. This is more than enough work and should not be under estimated. However, in the case that participants are inclined to develop additional techniques and test procedures from scratch (as opposed to reviewing the existing ones), the WCAG WG already has a process for such contributions:

The Work Statement of the Task Force (linked at the top of this mail) should capture these goals and approach. Please read it carefully and send any comments or suggestions to the ERT list. On tomorrows' teleconference call we will take a formal vote on approving this Task Force (if you are not able to attend the call, please indicate your position by mail).

Regards,
  Shadi
