I don't know the details of the genesis of the specification. There is definitely potential confusion around some of the key concepts like source, channel or else. Is there somewhere a mapping to dvb and atsc termonilogie (as as tv is concerned). MIght be interesting to see how the conpcet of network, bouquet, service, event, etc. would map to source / channel / event / programme or even mediaStream. What do you think?
