In the following, does one emphasis marks appear over each of the letters of _hello bonjour_?
```
<span tts:textEmphasis="filled circle before">hello <span> bonjour</span></span>
```

If so,  the definition of `tts:textEmphasis` should specify that emphasis marks are added to each of glyph areas that are generated by content to which `tts:textEmphasis` applies.
