Call for Consensus to request transition of TTML2 to CR3

All,

As agreed during last week's call<https://www.w3.org/2018/07/19-tt-minutes.html#item02>, the open pull requests on TTML2 have been merged (early) into the editor's draft so the complete document can be reviewed. This means that part of the normal review period for pull requests is being run simultaneously with this call for consensus to request transition.

This email is a call for consensus to request transition of TTML2 to CR3 based on the ED.

Please review the CR3 draft at https://w3c.github.io/ttml2/index.html with a view to agreeing with the proposal to request transition to CR3.

This email is the call for consensus that begins the countdown timer on our decision policy: if no objection to requesting transition is received by end of Tuesday 7th August then the Resolution is passed and I will request the transition to CR3.

For ease of reference the following 10 substantive pull requests have been merged for this CR3 draft (available on GitHub at https://github.com/w3c/ttml2/pulls?q=is%3Apr+is%3Aclosed+label%3Asubstantive+milestone%3ACR3); all were merged early:

The normal review period for pull requests, as per our decision policy, is 10 working days from when they are opened. Effectively this CfC extends that period, which is reasonable given there are multiple simultaneous changes to review all at once.

Scope of review

The changes listed above are the scope of the review – any comments on the specification relating to the CfC need to relate to them; by extension any further changes made during the CfC must address those comments. If there are comments on other parts of the specification they will be deferred until after the CfC and CR3.

Objections

Nonetheless, there may still be formal objections to proceeding with the CR3 transition request for any legitimate reason – if you are planning to object, please ensure that you give a clear rationale for objecting that allows the WG to consider an action and potentially proceed on an alternate path.

Kind regards,

Nigel
