Nigel: Apologies for the late start!

This meeting

Nigel: Today, we have: TPAC (including demos?), IMSC, TTML.

Thierry: Also David Singer requested I send a reminder for the
   WebVTT review. It sounds
   ... reasonable but I want everybody's opinion because it's a
bit of a clash with the recent
... request we've had for TTML2, but I think we have no other
   solution.

Nigel: Okay we'll add WebVTT to the agenda.
... Any other business or particular points to cover today?

Pierre: I need to drop off no later than 1 hour from now.

Mike: I'm also conflicted at the top of the hour.

   Nigel: Okay let's go then!

TPAC

Nigel: Dominique reminded me that in June I offered that the
TTWG would like to present a demo during the TPAC demo session
   on the Wednesday.
... What I proposed originally was that we demonstrate the
   styling features in TTML that
... we have and would like to see implemented also in CSS, as
   it's a good forum for
... disseminating that information and driving interest.
... What do you think? Is that a good idea?
... I don't mind doing it, especially if I can have some help
putting it together - I guess
... the thing to do would be to show the features that we think
   are somehow highest in
   ... priority.

   Pierre: Okay, yes.
... What about using imsc.js as the basis for that? Showing all
   the workarounds we
... had to do to achieve the desired effects?

   Nigel: Yes, sounds good.

Pierre: If we just complain for 30 minutes it wouldn't look
   great!

   Nigel: +1

Pierre: We can think about that, find a way to make it both fun
   and instructive, and
... highlight things we'd like to do that are difficult now.

   Nigel: Sounds good to me.

Pierre: We can work offline and see if we can find a way to do
   it.

Nigel: Okay, let's do it. Anyone else want to be involved?
... Moving on to the agenda.

Nigel: Thanks for adding your names!
... Looking at the agenda, I don't think anyone has added
   anything yet, so please could
... we focus on it next week?

next agenda by 2017-09-12 [on Nigel Megitt - due 2017-09-14].

IMSC

Nigel: I wanted to note that on behalf of BBC I've posted our
   gstreamer patch as an
... implementation on the implementation report page for IMSC
   1.0.1

   Pierre: Thanks for posting that

Nigel: It'd be good to have another pair of eyes verify the
   screenshot, because there's
... subtlety there and it's good to have an independent view
   not from the contributing
   ... organisation.

   Pierre: I'll have a look.

   Nigel: Thank you

Glenn: The two screengrabs look fine to me.

   Nigel: Great, thank you.
... Now the pressure is on to find a second implementation...

Glenn: We have support for activeArea already in TTV but it's
   just parsing it and verifying
   ... its correctness.

Nigel: Formally, I think that's all that's needed.
... If you could send notification of that formally to the
group that would be really helpful.

   Glenn: Okay, sure.

   Nigel: Thank you.

Nigel: Thierry, I think you've done this?

   Thierry: Yes I have.

   Nigel: Thank you!

   close action-503

   <trackbot> Closed action-503.

Glenn: I've added horizontal review "comment disposed" to the 8
   closed issues previously
... labelled "horizontal review comment". This marks disposal
   of comments received during
... the review process. For the others it wouldn't harm to have
   a label indicating that the
   ... WG has reviewed it.

Nigel: Do you mean to indicate the WG has agreed the
disposition and we are awaiting confirmation from the
   commenter?

Glenn: It would probably be useful to note that the WG reviewed
   the non-review issues
... from within the group also. There were a number of issues
   posted by members that were
... not marked as review comments originally. I'd say most of
our issues in the past have
   ... fallen into that category.
... The alternative is I change the new label just to "WG
disposed" and use that for all of
... the items that the WG has reviewed.
... It was not my intent to mark that we have had confirmation
of the disposition from the commenter,
... just that the WG has agreed what to do.

Nigel: My interpretation is that we need a different label for
   "WG disposition agreed" and the
... current "comment disposed" issue means that we have given a
   sufficient opportunity for
... the original commenter to feed back on the WG disposition.
... The main user for these labels will likely be Thierry. Does
this make sense to you Thierry?

Thierry: Yes, I'll have a look and check it makes sense and
   tweak the labels if needed.

Nigel: It might be useful to put together a wiki page
explaining the process we are using
... and what labels we are putting on GitHub issues to track
   the (not particularly changed)
... process instead of using Dom's old web tool.

Thierry: Okay, you can give me an action for that - I've done
some work already on WebVTT similarly.

   <trackbot> Created ACTION-506 - Draft a wiki page explaining
our review and disposition steps and labels [on Thierry Michel
   - due 2017-09-14].

Thierry: Once we have these labels on GitHub we will be able to
   filter on the labels and
... generate automatic dispositions of comments, or at least a
list of agreed and not agreed comments?

   Nigel: Exactly, yes.

WebVTT review feedback

Thierry: Nothing really exciting here! As Nigel said last week,
   I had reminded the TTML2
... review to the W3C groups we have dependencies with and
   horizontal review and external
... groups, and TTML2 review ends on Sep 30. David Singer saw
   this and our discussion and
... asked me if I could do the same for WebVTT, and I think
   that's fair enough. The review
... ends on 22nd September for WebVTT, but last week Nigel you
   had raised a concern about
... having two reviews simultaneously and that it could be
   confusing to receive such requests
... for review for two different formats within the same week
but I don't see how we can
   ... avoid that unfortunately.

   Nigel: Neither do I!

Thierry: So far we have no comments from external groups either
   for TTML2 or WebVTT.
... One or two groups have responded that they will process it
   during an October meeting,
... but that's the only kind of answer we got (for both TTML2
   and WebVTT), so a reminder
   ... is certainly necessary.
... My question is: is anyone against me taking that action?
... (but I think it would be unfair to say no!)

Nigel: It seems that nobody wishes to be unfair, so I think you
   can go ahead Thierry.

Thierry: Okay. Also Nigel just to mention that Daniel was a bit
   surprised about all the
... messages to team-liaisons, so he asked for a single summary
   email listing all the groups
... to which the reminders had been sent. So I will not copy
   team-liaisons on purpose this time.

Nigel: OK, thanks, that makes sense.

Meeting close

Nigel: We've completed our agenda for today, and have no other
   business so I'll adjourn
... the meeting. Thanks everyone. Next week, let's discuss TPAC
   agenda please.
   ... [adjourns meeting]
