Kind regards,

Dear Mr. Evain:

The Timed Text Working Group is working on a Recommendation for profiles of TTML intended to be used across subtitle and caption delivery applications worldwide, thereby simplifying interoperability, consistent rendering and conversion to other subtitling and captioning formats, known currently as IMSC 1, and based on the member submission at [1], itself derived from the DECE CFF 1.0.6 timed text format. We are pleased to be able to share with you our intended timeline for publishing a Last Call version of IMSC 1, as follows:

  *   All issues with the editor's draft at [2] are to have been raised by 5th September;
  *   We plan to meet in Geneva on 16th and 17th September, with a key discussion topic being the mapping between TTML and WebVTT. It is in principle possible that this discussion will generate new issues for IMSC 1; if this is the case then any issues arising purely from this consideration are to be submitted ASAP after that meeting;
  * We will prepare a version suitable for review, prior to submission as Last Call, by October 15, with all issues in our tracker either resolved or deliberately deferred, for example to be resolved during the LC review process or in some future version of IMSC.
We welcome your input on this work.
