RE: Liaisons from SMPTE

The substance of the member-only liaison communications noted below is now
publicly available at SMPTE.

The first is a set of requirements that SMPTE believes is needed for support
of Internet Closed Captions and would, for example, expect the SDP-US
profile to address:

Technical Report: FCC Internet Caption Technical Requirements for SMPTE
Timed Text
<https://www.smpte.org/sites/default/files/24TB-FCC-Technical-Requirements-2
0120908.pdf>

The other report is a set of new features needed to support today's
theatrical subtitling and closed captions that we hope TTWG will consider
addressing in TTML 1.next:

Technical Report: TTML Features for IMF Data Essence
<https://www.smpte.org/sites/default/files/24TB-Captions-Report-IMF-TTML-Fea
tures-20121001.pdf>

Regards,

                Mike
