Stella will no doubt respond to this, but as we've been discussing it
I'll just chip in with my tuppence worth . . .

The sort of systematic display shown above is effectively a cut-down
type of faceted classification. In such a system, you could combine any
terms from the "people" facet with a term from the "discipline" facet,
giving combinations such as

(disciplines)
agricultural industries
   (people)
   accountants
   children
   convicts
   farm managers
   shepherds

and so on. These do not indicate that there is any inherent relationship
between accountants, children or convicts and agricultural industries,
but give a place in a hierarchy to place compound concepts such as
"children in agricultural industries". A classification scheme provides
for "pre-coordinated" concepts of this kind.

In a classified display of thesaurus concepts, we may choose to limit
the list of people displayed under agricultural industries to those
types of people which do have an inherent relationship with the
discipline. It is not really providing for pre-coordinated concepts, but
serving as a way to draw attention to related concepts in other facets,
because these would not be brought together in a hierarchy based simply
on BT/NT relationships.

In that case it might indeed be valid to show only those concepts which
are linked by RT relationships (or to give such links to concepts that
we think appropriate to list). This is not something that we discussed
explicitly in BS8723-2, but perhaps it would be a useful rule for
constructing these classified displays.
