[SKOS] deliverables

Hi all,

I propose the following breakdown of deliverables for SKOS:

 1. SKOS: Use Cases and Requirements

This document describes use cases and requirements for the design of SKOS.

[This document is written for anyone interested in the design and functionality of SKOS. Informative?]

 2. SKOS: Test Cases

This document provides an initial set of test cases to establish the sufficiency of SKOS for representing various examples of concept schemes. This document also provides an additional set of test cases for applications implementing the SKOS specification, to demonstrate conformance with respect to valid inferences and consistency checking.

[This document is written for the designers of SKOS and for designers and implementers of SKOS applications. Normative?]

 3. SKOS: Primer

This document provides a gentle introduction to SKOS, its motivation and use, through examples of typical applications. This document is also an entry point to the various sections of the normative specification.

[This document is written for designers and implementers of SKOS applications, and for managers and executives, with possibly limited technical knowledge or experience. Informative.]

 4. SKOS: Normative Specification

This document is a specification of the precise formal semantics of SKOS. It is intended as a benchmark against which applications can demonstrate conformance.

[This document is written for designers and implementers of SKOS applications with a good technical understanding of RDF. Mostly normative with some informative sections.]

[Should this be called "SKOS: Semantics"?]

 5. SKOS: Machine-Readable Specification

This is an RDF/XML document, specifying the formal semantics of the SKOS vocabulary (as far as possible) as a set of RDF triples, using the RDF, RDFS and OWL vocabularies.

[This document is intended for consumption by software applications. Normative?]

 6. SKOS: Vocabulary Overview

This document gives an overview of the classes and properties of the SKOS vocabularies. It is intended as a reference companion to the other SKOS documents.

[This document is written as a reference companion for all readers of other SKOS documents. Informative.]

 7. Other FAQ-like Notes

One or more documents, each being much like an extended FAQ entry, e.g. "How do I publish a thesaurus in the Semantic Web?"

If this plan of deliverables is accepted, I will update the deliverables wiki page [1] accordingly.

[DONE] ACTION: Alistair to update the schedule for SKOS documents [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/01/23-swd-minutes.html#action10]

Cheers,

Alistair.
