[PORT,OEP] SKOS f2f and end-of-charter goals

Hi all,

Here is a summary of the goals I hope PORT task force to achieve in time for the SWBP-WG f2f in Galway (4/5 November 2005), and by the end of the SWBP-WG chartered lifetime (1st Feb 2006).

We are currently in the middle of the second review of SKOS Core (see [1]).

By 28th October we aim to have the following:

[A] Revised (2nd) Public Working Draft of the SKOS Core Guide, reflecting changes made at 2nd review.

[B] Revised (3rd) Public Working Draft of the SKOS Core Vocabulary Specification, reflecting changes made at 2nd review.

[c] A list of issues and proposals relating to the interaction between SKOS Core and OWL.

The discussion at the f2f should centre around [c], and can be done in the plenary session, but particularly in conjunction with the members of the OEP task force (we need their expertise :).

Subsequent to the f2f we begin a 3rd review of SKOS Core, aiming to resolve the discussion around [c]. ([C] is the main input to the third review.) I hope very much that two members of the OEP task force will be the official reviewers at this stage, and that the OEP task force as a whole will be able to enage and comment.

By 1st February we aim to have the following:

(D) Revised (3rd) Public Working Draft of the SKOS Core Guide, reflecting changes made at 3rd review.

(E) Revised (3rd) Public Working Draft of the SKOS Core Vocabulary Specification, reflecting changes made at 3rd review.

N.B. I do not expect that the work on SKOS will be 'finished' by 1st february, although I think it will be in very good shape. If SKOS is to become the basis for a recommendation track work item, then I would prefer that work to go on in the context of a SWBP-WG-like WG (rather than in a WG of its own), because SKOS work should remain in close contact with other work like OEP, VM, RDFTM etc.

That's all for now.

Cheers,

Al.
