This support is not critical, but it would go a long way to showing the value of SVG in OpenType for digital publishing. 

Making something like this: http://www.photolettering.com/a/j3hgec0a possible in one font file —rather than only being available as a web service and being built with eight different OpenType fonts— is a rather big plus to type foundries.
