Deprecation doesn't remove the attribute though. Almost all the [deprecated members in HTML](https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/obsolete.html) are still supported by browsers (including type). It just clears out of the main interface definition making it easier for authors to see that you shouldn't rely on it for new code going forward.
