Considering the "legacy constraints" / "historical reasons" (mentioned) above, I would probably suggest to leave them as 'computed value'. I'd welcome other inputs here though. (The usual "con" for 'used value' tend to be that they require layout - which browsers tend to try to avoid doing if they can.
