Fw: WG Decision: Request transition of Canvas2D to Proposed Recommendation

So, Canvas 2D V 1.0 is advancing to Proposed Recommendation.

The hit testing support needed for accessibility was implemented in FF and
Chrome. Edge and Webkit have not implemented it yet.

Since we did not receive any objections to this CfC, this CfC passes.

The Chairs and Team will now issue the W3C internal transition request and
will schedule a meeting with the W3C Director to request his approval for
this transition.

Subject: CfC: Request transition of Canvas2D to Proposed Recommendation

In accordance with the W3C process's requirement to record the group's
decision to request advancement [1], this is a Call for Consensus (CfC) to
request transition to Proposed Recommendation for the following document:
https://w3c.github.io/2dcontext/PR-20150907.html

For your reference a Diff with the Candidate Recommendation [2] is
available:
http://services.w3.org/htmldiff?doc1=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2FTR%2F2dcontext%2F&doc2=https%3A%2F%2Fw3c.github.io%2F2dcontext%2FPR-20150907.html

- The only substantive change is the origin check for fillText and
strokeText to match implementations for
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=28987.
- The additional section 7 is purely editorial. It regroups several
definitions that were dispersed in the spec.
- The new type CanvasImageSource is also purely editorial and no impact on
implementations. Other changes are also editorial.

There were 31 bugs filed during the Candidate Recommendation stage:
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/buglist.cgi?bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=REOPENED&bug_status=RESOLVED&bug_status=VERIFIED&bug_status=CLOSED&component=CR%20HTML%20Canvas%202D%20Context&list_id=57536&product=HTML%20WG&query_format=advanced

All the bugs were resolved except for bugs 21944 and28651 which are not
considered critical.

Tests for this specification can be found at [3-4].  An updated analysis of
the test results is available at [5-6]. The failure rate is at 1.52% (14
failures out of 728). None of the failures are considered critical. A
companion report for drawFocusIfNeeded and addHitRegion is available at
[7]. The failures reported there have been reported as bugs in
implementations.

Silence will be taken to mean there is no objection, but positive responses
are encouraged. If there are no objections by Wednesday Sep 16th, this
resolution will carry.

Considerations to note:
- A request to advance indicates that the Working Group believes the
specification is stable and appropriate for advancement to Recommendation
status.
