resolution in conf call (5/1/08):
interchange model as in comment 7 #3 (dashed bullet 1)
smlif doc: - An SML-IF document is a XML representation of an interchange
model.  It includes the model's identity, its documents (by value or by
reference), metadata about its documents, and a syntactic representation of
concepts defined as part of an SML model but lacking an SML-defined sytnax
(e.g. rule bindings).
