Professorship in Human Computer Interaction, University of Zurich

The Department of Informatics at the University of Zuerich is inviting
applications for a

      tenured faculty position

      in the area of

      Human Computer Interaction.

We seek applications from outstanding candidates with a strong focus on
concepts, algorithms and tools in human centered man-machine interaction
problems. Research areas of central interes include but are not limited to
graphical or multimodal user interfaces, novel interactive interaction
concepts,
or interaction in the large (interaction with groups and social networks).

Successful candidates should actively pursue research projects of their
interest
in the context of HCI and are encouraged to collaborate with current
faculty in
related areas such as for example CSCW, AI or graphics and multimedia. In
accordance with the university's expectation on teaching involvement, the
candidate should develop undergraduate and graduate courses in the area
of his
or her research interest as well as contribute to the basic computer
science
education.

Promising applicants have an excellent background and education in computer
science or a closely related field. With respect to the level of the
position,
promising candidates have a proven track record in research and teaching
commensurate with their academic experience. For this tenured faculty
position,
the usual academic hiring requirements have to be met (doctoral degree and
additionally a habilitation or equivalent scientific qualifications in
the area
of expertise). Qualified female applicants are especially welcome.

The position is open for an associate or full professorship. In the
former case,
a promotion to full can be considered at a later stage, given sufficient
qualifications. Excellent candidates in the early stages of their academic
careers, with a strong research record but that do not readily qualify
for a
full professorship, are thus strongly encouraged to apply.

Applications should include a detailed resume, research and teaching
statements,
and the names and addresses of at least three references. Applications
should be
