[LLD] Minutes from Dataset Description W3C Note telco

Regrets: Janos
Present: Michel, Kalpana, Ram, Sal, Simon, Alejandra, Tim,
<michel> http://openphacts.cs.man.ac.uk/Void-Editor/
<mscottm> Simon: Marshfield is a member of a research network that has a
common data model, that includes patient demographics and other clinical
data.
<Ram> A naive question, maybe you have already covered this earlier "How
are you hoping to cover granularity such as organism specific datasets
(human, mouse vs. mammalian) or datasets such as GPCRs, Kinases etc?"
<mscottm> .. works using older tech (Virtual Data Warehouse) with
distributed queries which could readily make use of the dataset description
approach and SPARQL.
<Alejandra> https://github.com/openphacts/Void-Editor
<mscottm> Simon: Other use case implements pharmacogenomics in a clinical
setting in a consortium of 8 members.
<mscottm> ..(1st use case had consortium of 10 members)
<mscottm> ..The 8 institutes want to pool data in order to get enough data
for certain studies.
<Sal> I have a question.
<Ram> thanks that is helpful ... good to know that std taxonomies can be
used
<mscottm> ..(continued from Simon's 2nd use case) Current tech is a central
data schema
* michel (~michel@public.cloak) Quit (Ping timeout: 180 seconds)
* egonw (~egonw@public.cloak) has joined #HCLS
<Alejandra> ISA-TAB helps on describing the experimental steps
<Alejandra> www.isa-tools.org
<michel> http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-semweb-lifesci/
<Ram> Thanks all
<mscottm> Sal: (Scott attempts a nutshell summary) Appreciate what you are
doing. Would like to see data of clinical trials linked to the protocols
and conditions in which it was collected.

Michel urges Sal to send an introduction to the mailing list and describe
the areas where he would like to see progress.

Next meeting: Next week, same time, same channel. I will possibly be late -
call starts less than an hour after I land at airport but Michel will be
there to chair in that case.

(Sorry - forgot to invite RRSAgent before starting to create the minutes so
pasting pieces of the IRC chat here.)
