                                  FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS
                          2nd International Workshop on
              Exploiting Large Knowledge Repositories (E-LKR)
              Collocated with SEPLN 2012 Conference
           September 7, 2012. Castellon, Comunidad Valenciana, Spain
              http://www.cs.ox.ac.uk/isg/conferences/ELKR2012/
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OBJECTIVES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Very large knowledge repositories (LKR) are being created, published and
exploited in a wide range of
fields, including Bioinformatics, Biomedicine, Geography, e-Government, and
many others. Some well known
examples of LKRs include the Wikipedia, large scale Bioinformatics
databases and ontologies such as those
published by the EBI or the NIH (e.g. UMLS, GO), and government data
repositories such as data.gov. These
repositories are publicly available and can be used openly. Their
exploitation offers many possibilities
for improving current information systems, and opens new challenges and
research opportunities to the
information processing, databases and semantic web areas.

The main goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers that are
working on the creation of new
LKRs on any domain, or on their exploitation for specific information
processing tasks such as data analysis,
text mining, natural language processing and visualization, as well as for
knowledge engineering issues,
like knowledge acquisition, validation and personalization.

CALL FOR PAPERS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

We solicit LONG, DEMO and POSITION papers dealing with some of (but not
limited to) the proposed topics
and showing the benefits of exploiting LKRs to the Natural Language
Processing, the Semantic Web and Database
communities. SURVEY papers will also be welcome.

Topics:

    * Natural language processing tasks and applications of LKRs.

    * LKRs as high-quality sources of information.

    * LKRs characterization and applications.

    * LKRs creation from document collections and corpora.

    * Knowledge extraction from LKRs.

    * Analysis and mining of LKRs.

    * Temporal issues in LKRs.

    * Acquisition, validation and management of data and knowledge.

    * Knowledge integration issues in LKRs.

    * Integration of large scale ontologies.

    * Automatic construction of ontologies, thesauri and corpora from LKR.

    * Semantic annotation.

    * Semantic search.

    * LKRs and the Semantic Web.

    * LKRs and the Web of Linked Data.

    * Social graphs as LKRs.

    * Visualization techniques for LKRs.

    * Emerging applications of LKRs.

SUBMISSIONS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Long and Survey papers must be no longer than 10 pages, while Demo and
Position papers must be no longer
than 6 pages. Statements of interest (up to 2 pages) will also be
considered.

Submissions must be in PDF and should be formatted according to the
Springer LNCS guidelines. Submission
is electronic through easychair.

All submissions will be peer-reviewed by the program committee. Selected
papers are to be published as a
volume of CEUR workshop proceedings.

IMPORTANT DATES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

    * Submission of abstracts: July 1st, 2012 (EXTENDED)

    * Paper submission deadline: July 1st, 2012 (EXTENDED)

    * Notification of acceptance: July 20th, 2012

    * Camera-ready papers due: August 5th, 2012

    * Workshop: September 7th, 2012 (morning, half day)
