suggested HCLS organization and next meeting

Dear colleagues,

The HCLSIG has been doing exceptional work in progressing the application
of semantic technologies and linked data to problems in health care and
life sciences. This work has resulted in the development of key frameworks,
prototypes and publications that clearly establish the business case on how
these technologies can help deliver value. Yet, more needs to be done to
bring about greater awareness and overall confidence around these
technologies in industry. We believe that we can address these issues by
involving key subject matter experts from industry who are already dealing
with "data based" problems firsthand and will benefit from the application
of semantic technologies to their business-directed problems.

With the goal of increased outreach and developing natural points
integration among our task forces, we propose to organize the HCLSIG
activities the following three focal areas - that of the life sciences,
pharmaceutical and clinical research, and health care. Every Tuesday at
11:00 AM EST will feature a teleconference call in support of each of these
focus areas, and translational medicine. The calls will be open to anyone
to participate but the agenda will be domain focused. Additional details
regarding the schedule, task forces and topics of interest can be found
here:

Please join us for on Tuesday Feb 7 at 11am EST to discuss the adoption of
this proposal and to draw up a list of experts to invite to our forums.

Best,

m.

on behalf of the HCLSIG chairs
