Re: discoverability and crawlability

Hi Folks,
Apologies for delayed réponse.
If possible I would like to lead/co-lead a driven effort into undertaking a consolidated review and understanding of existing spatial markup vocabularies.
Is this OK?
Thanks
Lewis

Is there an ongoing effort within this WG to identify and curate a resource of geospatial markup standards/geospatial metadata vocabularies?

I would assume such an overview will be part of the Best Practices deliverable, although it is not explicitely mentioned in the description of that deliverable. But the overall mission of the working group is "to clarify and formalize the relevant standards landscape". That would be hard to do without some kind of overview of available standards and vocabularies.

Regards,
Frans

Hi Frans,

I think we are trying to express the issue that Geospatial information because of the way it has been published/shared up until this point is not discoverable in the way say ascii, csv, or even pdf is. It is less to do with missing standards as to best practice in terms of publishing at a granular level data with uri's and not publishing using opaque service interfaces.
