Re: Significant or Premiere Event types ?

 My 2 cents:
+1 to better represent Premiere events. It's indeed a valid use case in the Entertainment industry.

One could just reuse Event (i.e. Event can be connected to CreativeWork via workPerformed) but, as Thad pointed out, nothing would then distinguish the Premiere event(s) associated with a movie from random events broadcasting that movie.

Besides PublicationEvent, schema.org also has a ScreeningEvent class, which could be reused and expanded to represent Premiere events, even though its primary use case is to represent movie schedules at theaters.
Whether we reuse an existing class or create a new one, people in the industry distinguish World premieres from Language premieres, as well as Private premieres from Public premieres (and a few things in-between, like festival premieres).
Premiere events also typically have guests, like the director and some key cast members on stage...

In the Performing Arts world, you deal a lot with Premiere's and various types of them. But in Schema.org there's no nice type that helps designate a Premiere Event from any other Event. Wikidata just recognized this with a new 'premiere type' property - read the use cases within the discussion. They also have SignificantEvent that also helps a lot.
It seems we have http://schema.org/releasedEvent on any CreativeWork type that sort of helps, but not on the Event type level itself. So you have to walk around the graph more than necessary to discover Significant or Premiere events.
Also, I am wondering given the releasedEvent description, if it really is for the use case of ..the first public performance ?
I think it would be wise to have a PremiereEvent (or SignificantEvent) type that can be instead the expected type on the releasedEvent property. In the Performing Arts world there is usually a sub type or further sub-categorization of a Premiere such as world premiere, language premiere, new staging, etc.
