I know of no other approach that is capable of supporting such sophisticated client-side querying with completely generic clients. With the new collection design that we discussed over last couple of weeks, this becomes a very powerful approach that is capable of splitting the work between the client and the server. Ruben, who co-created Linked Data Fragments and wrote their specifications, will lead this effort. It might be that the volume of mails on our mailing list increases due to this. Thus, we've set up an alias [4] which we will use in most our public communication for this. If the volume gets too high, we will turn this alias into a mailing list on its own.
