Re: W3C RSP community Group phone call

Dear all,
here comes another introduction:

I'm Eva Blomqvist, assistant professor at Linköping University in
Sweden, but officially involved in the W3C activity through my
additional affiliation with the Semantic Technologies Lab at CNR in
Rome. I have previous experience mostly within the area of ontologies,
ontology engineering, and ("static") linked data. However, my research
group in Linköping has been working on decision support systems for many
years now, and in the past few years also bringing in event processing
over streaming data into those systems (but not particularly targeted at
RDF streams). This spring we hired a PhD student, Robin Keskisärkkä, who
will try to "marry the two", i.e. ontologies and/or linked data, and
their use in stream and event processing. For instance, we are
interested in how more complex events can/should be expressed and
transmitted through RDF streams, and how new interesting event types (or
patterns) emerging can be discovered, linked to existing knowledge, and
described in a dynamic fashion (at runtime). I think that some level of
standardization with respect to formats and query languages for dynamic
data, e.g. RDF streams, is a necessary prerequisite for most of this work.

Regards,
Eva

I have worked on data access and querying for streaming data sources, including those coming from sensors among others, using semantic technologies. We have worked previously at UPM on streaming extensions for SPARQL (SPARQLStream) and this is one of the reasons why we are interested in collaborating in this community group. We have also worked on SRBench and other benchmarking efforts during the last year, collaborating with other research groups.
