      work of this group

I've a background in applied research in areas ranging from pattern
processing (image and handwriting) and expert systems (a long time ago)
through to distributed consumer information appliances.

More relevantly I've been working in semantic web, as part of HP
Laboratories for several years now. I'm one of the developers of the
popular Jena semantic web toolkit, responsible for the inference
architecture and the RDF rule system. I've also been involved in diverse
semantic web application projects, several of which involve the use of
(Jena) rules.

-- what you expect to get out of this WG

A simple but useful rule language for the the semantic web. I strongly hope
it will be useful for RDF processing and satisfy our current and envisaged
commercial use cases, and be compatible with the overall semantic web
architecture.

-- what you hope/expect to contribute.

Experience with developing, using and (more importantly) supporting an RDF
rule language with a reasonably extensive user base.

Insight into the use cases for rules that arise from our application work.

devote to this group may evolve over time.
