Ivan,

I agree with you, it's important to point out the strength of RDF,
multiple vocabularies, etc... If FOAF is insufficient, add a few terms!
But don't reinvent the whole vocab if FOAF can do 80%.

That said, there is one particularly interesting aspect to Manu's
proposed work: mapping microformats to *RDFa* allows an entire
RDFa-based pipeline for handling all sorts of client-side data. This can
include eRDF, microformats, and the Dublin Core notation. If you
transform to RDFa, you keep the HTML-DOM context of the data, which is
quite important.

(this is the hGRDDL idea made practical, of course :)
