Note in passing: the first sentence cited is not a "definition" of map:remove,
it is a "summary". From 1.4: "The first section in the proforma is a short
summary of what the function does. This is intended to be informative rather
than normative." We try to make sure that what the summary says is correct,
which this arguably isn't, but we don't try to cover all edge cases here, and
the detailed rules take precedence.
