Type of typed values of comments and PIs should be xdt:untypedAtomic and
not xs:string due to XPath 1.0 backwards-compatibility. Also in an
untyped document, then ($a/node())[1] + 1 will work with
xdt:untypedAtomic but not with xs:string in a static typing
implementation.

This comment also affects the XQuery and Formal Semantics documents.
