RE: ORA-FO-DEFAULT-NAMESPACE 10.1.1.2 Examples

I don't understand the question.  If it were the default namespace it
could not be bound to the prefix "eg", or,

for that matter, to any other prefix.  So, I guess the answer is "no".

Functions and Operators, Section 10.1.1.2 Examples says "Assume that the
element bound to $element has a single namespace node bound to the
prefix eg" 

Could that namespace be the default namespace ?
