> WAI-ARIA 1.1 adds a variety of new features that were identified as needs since WAI-ARIA 1.0 was completed. These include a static table model to complement the dynamic grid model provided in WAI-ARIA 1.0, supporting news feeds and modal dialog boxes, better supporting labeling and extended descriptions, allowing authors to indicate keyboard shortcuts and custom role types, and refining the owned roles model and set of properties for many ARIA features. Digital Publishing WAI-ARIA Roles takes this further to provide roles for types of content that often appears in digital publications. Core Accessibility API Mappings and Digital Publishing Accessibility API Mappings describe how these features should be mapped to the features of Accessibility APIs specific to various platforms that user use to access web content.

> There were no Formal Objections. All Members who responded to the Call for Review for WAI-ARIA and Core-AAM [1] of the Proposed Recommendations showed support (with 2 abstentions), with several reviewers indicating that they produce or expect to produce products that use this specification. One Member requested changes which resulted in some editorial clarifications, explanation in the response, and issues filed on future versions of WAI-ARIA [2]. All Members who responded to the Call for Review of DPub-ARIA and DPub-AAM [3] of the Proposed Recommendations showed support (with 2 abstentions for DPub-ARIA and 3 abstentions for DPub-AAM), with several reviewers indicating that they produce or expect to produce products that use this specification. One Member requested a minor taxonomy change but accepted the explanation of why the current structure had been chosen.
