Have you seen any of these lovely icons in the permission dialogs when you installed new smart phone applications? I haven't.

You are not alone.

Only 3% of users both saw and understood the Android permissions screen, reported Adrienne Porter Felt of UC Berkeley in 2012. [1]
However, she was immediately employed by Google to improve that screen. Better now, perhaps?

Regarding my reference to the paper by Mr. Innis Walker:
It is a very interesting and - to a non-lawyer like me - encouraging masters' thesis by a student of (UK) law. Approved by his university professor and about to be revised for publication in a law journal. I can send you a copy if you like.
