Dear Advisory Committee Representative,
Chairs,

The Director is pleased to announce the approval of the Accessible
Platform Architectures Working Group charter:
   http://www.w3.org/2015/10/apa-charter

The new Working Group, chartered until 31 July 2018, is one of two split
from the Protocols and Formats Working Group. The APA Working Group will
continue to review technology to ensure supports exist to make web content
accessible to people with disabilities, and to produce materials to help
technology developers learn how to address accessibility use cases from
the start. In addition, the APA Working Group, in collaboration with the
WAI Interest Group, will take on some research activities formerly
conducted by the Research and Development Working Group.

Use this form to join the group; the form will also instruct you how to
nominate participants:
   http://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/83907/join

Participants in the Protocols and Formats Working Group who wish to
continue on work taken up by APA also must join this group before the PFWG
charter extension expires on December 3, 2015:

Participants in the former Research and Development Working Group who wish
to continue in the planned Research and Development Task Force must also
join this group.

The Working Group chair is Janina Sajka. The Team Contacts are Michael
Cooper, Shadi Abou-Zahra, and Liam Quin for a total of 0.4 FTE.

More information about the Working Group can be found at:

For help with the process of joining APA or transitioning from other
groups, contact Michael Cooper <cooper@w3.org>.

Results of Call for Review
------

We called for review on 2 July 2015:
   https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-ac-members/2015JulSep/0002.html

Thanks to the 36 Members who provided input:
   https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/33280/apawg2015/results

28 reviewers suggested that the group be approved as is, 5 suggested
changes, and there were 3 Formal Objections.

In response to comments and objections, the scope was organized into clear
categories, more concrete success criteria provided, milestones updated,
dependency to the WAI Interest Group added, and the decision policy
clarified. In addition, the updated charter removed a note about the ARIA
and APA Working Groups potentially recombining.

A detailed Disposition of Comments is available:
