Clarify whether presentational children contribute to text equivalents

Please clarify whether presentational children contribute to text equivalent calculation. In particular, does role="presentation" affect "host language  mechanisms" for associating labels with elements?

For example, given this markup:

   <div role="button"><img role="presentation" alt="Edit" src="pencil.png"></div>

Should the accessible name of the button be "Edit" or ""?
