Getting organized

Hi ho,

It's been over a year and the group is currently moribund, but there's lots of need for it.

So I suggest we start getting organised. (I'm hoping to have a fair bit of time this year to devote to getting this thing active as I'm on sabbatical, yay!)

First, thought is that we prune the chairs a bit. I'd be happy if we restricted the chairs to the OWLED steering committee assuming that at least one person in that group is willing to take an "active" role in nurturing the group for the next year.

If the steering committee members have other commitments, then I hereby volunteer to be a chair (or the sole chair if no one else is currently interested). If that's the path, then we should revisit chairship each year, probably around OWLED time, but with virtual participation.

The main formal power of a chair is to approve (or not approve) reports. The main goal for this first year is to get activity going and help develop structures to make it sustainable.

Thoughts? Comments? Counters?

In order to make activity the default, if I get no response by Sept 10th, I'll seize control of the group :)

Cheers,
Bijan.
