It might be possible in JAXB to customize it to bind to group:
	http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/WebServices/jaxb/
but, of course, this means fiddling before useful using. Better would  
be to have the "Right" types out of the box.

This seems more helpful than I'm finding it to be:
	http://www.w3.org/2002/ws/databinding/

Though I'm beginning to get it.
