To be held as part of 7th International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC 2008)
            26-30 October 2008, Karlsruhe, Germany
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The 7th International Semantic Web Conference 2008 will take place in
Karlsruhe, Germany. In addition to its plenary scientific sessions,
the conference will include a doctoral consortium. Alongside the great
opportunity for the scientific exchange and presentation of high
quality research in all aspects of Semantic Web, this forum will allow
doctoral students to present their work and obtain guidance from
mentors as well as to get in contact with other postgraduate students.

The goal of the doctoral consortium is to create an opportunity for
doctoral students to test their research ideas, present their current
progress and future plans, and most of all to receive constructive
criticism and insights related to their future work and career
perspectives. Mentors (peer researchers and experts in the field) will
be assigned to each student to provide individual feedback and advice
on the paper, the focus of the work and further developments.

Students who are submitting papers on specific portions of their work
to the main conference are also invited to apply to the PhD
Consortium. In this case, the short paper for the PhD Consortium must
give an overview of the student's dissertation research, and the paper
for the main conference should focus on a specific piece of this work.

All papers submitted to the Doctoral Consortium stream will undergo a
thorough reviewing process with a view to providing detailed and
constructive feedback. The best submissions will be selected for
presentation at the ISWC 2008 Doctoral Consortium sessions. Full
papers (5 pages) will be published in the main ISWC proceedings.

PhD research direction, sound situation of the PhD research in the
context of Semantic Web and related fields, a report on the work done
so far and a plan of further research. All submissions should be no
longer than 6 pages, in the same format as is used for the main
conference papers.

Paper submissions must be formatted in the style of the Springer
