RE: Reference Checker

Sure - send it around. Sounds like great work so far.

Yes, I really want to have at least a partial, beta implementation by
the time the final recommendation is published. I think it's crucial to
take advantage of the attention that it will generate in order to
publicize the updated checker.

Dom's set up a mailing list to discuss this:
public-mobileok-checker@w3.org (CCed). Nacho also expressed interest in
getting involved later.

I am happy to drive this process as much as is desirable. I have put
together the basic framework for the tests in a proof-of-concept and am
experimenting with implementing a test or two. Next steps would be to
review this part amongst all interested parties, then implement the
tests -- and that's the point where I think reusing some of what dotMobi
has done will be very useful. Then we refine it as much as we can and
put together some reasonable update to Dom's checker web application
based on this code for the mobileOK Basic Tests 1.0 release.

I won't be at 3GSM and it may be a little hard to make an excuse to get
to our London office soon, but it's possible. I agree that this should
be open to anyone who's interested and I the only other person who spoke
up so far was Nacho.

Dom suggested we can run the project off of dev.w3.org which seems
appropriate.

Before anything's added to CVS, how about I send around the code I have
so far? I realize that's getting a bit ahead of ourselves to look at
code but it codifies what I'd like to do with this reference
implementation. We can arrange a conference call to discuss then?

We (dotMobi) very keen to kick off the process on this. And
although I guess it is charter 2 work, we're keen to start now with
scoping discussions etc. If you think this is a good idea, do you want
to make a trip to Dublin some time not too long after 3GSM? Who should
also come? Potentially this needs to be an open invite to the BPWG if it
is part of the 'official' work track.
