Touch Events / Remapping?

Dear All, 

I've been dealing with an issue related to touch events being remapped - leaving functionality unable to be used by AT users.

I looked at https://github.com/w3c/Mobile-A11y-TF-Note/blob/gh-pages/Techniques/M027.html.  

I was wondering if anyone had any concrete examples of using mouse and keyboard events to support touch events (but preventing double firing etc…).  Or, are there downsides to this?
