Alan Kotok was our brother-in-law for over 25 years. We knew he was generous, wildly intelligent, devoted to Judie, of a sly wit, extremely fond of cats, good food, old organs and later the Red Sox. But it wasn't until Judie's illness that we really got to know Alan. It was the saddest of times but also time well-spent. Perhaps what we will remember most is not all those years before but the year after Judie's death when he made the most concerted effort to stay connected, emailing and calling. He made it very clear we would always be a family. We will always feel the loss of my sister and we will also feel the loss of that new relationship and the Alan we were truly getting to know.
