Let me just note that I don't really find that a responsible response. We've identified a problem with the way you are operating. Namely that it is unclear that when a PR is merged that it actually means the change is made and there's no way for contributors to really know what will happen after that, other than following the commit history of a different branch. No other standard follows this pattern or has this problem that I know of.
