@jan-ivar yes, I think I could have used a better subject. The issue you mention actually seems to make this worse than, say, the battery API. Your solution sounds like (a version of) @dontcallmedom's solution to only fire for visible pages. Anyway, it seems we have some potential solution ideas, but we've not worked through the consequences of them.
