Here is the response:

Dear Anne,

The Media Annotations Working Group has reviewed the comments you sent
[1] on the 3 rd Last Call Working Draft [2] of the API for Media
Resource 1.0 published on 11 April June 2013.
Thank you for having taken the time to review the document and to send
us comments.

The Working Group's response to your comment is included below.
Please review it carefully and let us know by email at
<public-media-annotation@w3.org> if you agree with it or not within one

In case of disagreement, you are requested to provide a specific
solution for or a path to a consensus with the Working Group.
If such a consensus cannot be achieved, you will be given the
opportunity to raise a formal objection which will then be reviewed by
the Director during the transition of this document to the next stage in
the W3C Recommendation Track.

Resolution of the MAWG:

This 3 rd Last Call Working Draft [2] of the API for Media Resource 1.0
follows multiple publications. In the last 2 years, the group has
published a first and a second Last Call Working Draft and a Candidate

After Candidate Recommendation we had to make a few changes, based on
implementation experience. This trigered this 3 rd Last Call Working Draft.

Therefore there was multiple reviews and opportunities to send feedback.

Implementations are now stable and the group fullfills the Candidate
Recommendation exit criteria in order to move this API specification to
Proposed Recommendation.

1- The scope of comments for this 3rd Last Call [2] is restricted to the
changes introduced since the Candidate Recommendation, as it is
mentionned in the Status of this document Section.

--> Unfortunaltly, your comment about callback syntax is out of scope of
this 3rd Last Call.

2- The proposed alternative solution references a WhatWG document.
Adopting this solution would require using a normative reference, which
cannot be done as long as this document is not on the W3C Recommendation

3- Implementation are well advanced and cover the Specification allowing
to move to Proposed Recommendation (There was already a Candidate
Recommendation phase where we fullfilled exit criteria)

4- We may introduce your proposal if the Media Annotations Working Group
specifies a new version of this API for Media Resource and if the
proposed alternative solution about callback syntax is well advanced on
the W3C Recommendation Track.
